According to Investopedia, the money market and capital market are two broad components of a financial system. The money market is the trade in short-term debt. It is a constant flow of cash between governments, corporations, banks, and financial institutions, borrowing and lending for a term as short as overnight and no longer than a year. The capital market encompasses the trade in both stocks and bonds. These are long term assets bought by financial institutions, professional brokers, and individual investors.
Together, the money market and capital market comprise a large portion of what is known as the financial market. This course is about the basics of money and capital markets in the context of the Philippine domestic financial market.
This program discusses both the theoretical aspects and practical applications of money and capital markets instruments, such as repurchase agreements, bonds and stocks, with the goal of aiding banking professionals become better at what they do.
Objectives:
The program could be run as a one-day, 6-hour session, or as two-day, 3- hour session per day. At the end of the course, participants should be able to
