Description:            The Basic Accounting and Financial Analysis module of the Fundamentals of Credit Series is intended to teach the participants basic accounting principles on recording revenues, expenses, net income, capital, asset acquisitions, debt and receivables/inventories/ payables in coming up with the profit and loss statement and balance sheet.  The foregoing will then be translated into financial ratios, to be further used for financial analysis.

 

Objective:              By the end of this course, one will be able to:

  2. Know the difference between different financial reports and the need for external audit services
  3. Understand the components of financial statements and their major drivers
  4. Apply financial ratio analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses in a borrower’s overall financial condition

Description:            The Cashflow Analysis module of the Fundamentals of Credit Series is intended to teach the participant the components of a borrower’s cashflow statement and how these components contribute to his ability to generate the necessary cash inflows as well as cash outflows.  In the end, the participants will be able to identify any cashflow problems that may arise from business operations.

 

Objective:              By the end of this course, one will be able to:

  1. Understand cashflow and its role in credit risk assessment
  2. Know the drivers of cash flow (sources versus uses) and how to calculate and interpret the difference measures of cashflow
  3. Identify potential liquidity problems

Description:            The Financial Spreadsheets, Validation and Projections module of the Fundamentals of Credit Series is intended to teach the participants how to approach different types of financial statements received from a borrower, from audited financial statements to unaudited financial statements to interim financial statements to in-house financial statements.  The participants will also know the importance of validating in-house financial statements and recasting these.  How to do financial projections will clearly round off his learnings.  The participants should find themselves comfortable with dealing with financial numbers at the end of this module.

 

Objective:              By the end of this course, one will be able to:

  1. Understand the significance of validation, recasting and financial projections.
