  • Financial Reporting Risks that Banks may have to Manage
  • Overview of Front-End Business Applications designed with Financial Accounting Entries that Interface with the Core GL System. The Core GL System designed with the meaningfully-coded GL Account Lines, based on several considerations.
  • Overview of the Bank’s Product Accounting Entries being designed into the business application systems (front-end systems). Illustrative Simplified Entries on Basic Banking Transactions.

  1. To discuss the basic Body of Knowledge as regards the Banking Business Model that impact the Financial Statements, and the Bank’s evolving Financial Reporting Risk Profile.
    • Highlights of Banking Business Model (as approved by the Board in accordance with the banking license granted by the Regulator/Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas)
    • Highlights of Core Products (in line with the Banking Business Model adopted by Banks)
    • Highlights of Financial Statements Accounts (as recorded from the transactions on Core Products of the Bank in accordance with the Banking Business Model adopted by Banks)
  2. To provide Guidance on determining and assessing the bank’s Financial Reporting (FINREP) Risk Profile, determining the Root Causes of FINREP Risks, and the implications on the Financial Statements of Banks (PH).
  3. To discuss the basic Financial/Statutory/Regulatory Reporting Controls in Banks (PH), which should comprise the proficiency & competency profile of the Finance-Regulatory Reporting-Tax Professionals in Banks, as well as for External/Independent Auditors, who examine the Bank’s Financial Statements, and Statutory/Regulatory Reports.
  4. To share practical and experiential know-how to the Finance/Regulatory Reporting/Tax Professionals of banks, as well as the Independent Assessors/Auditors, as regards the Financial Reporting Controls that have been put in place in Bank’s Financial Reporting/Regulatory Reporting Process; In particular, the following:
    • Overview of the True-Source Datasets underlying the financial regulatory reporting;
    • Illustrative Examples of Key Financial Reporting Controls that the bank may put in place, for their regulatory financial reporting to Board-GovCom, and to the banking Regulator;
    • Illustrative Examples of how the Finance/Accounting organization’s regulatory reporting process may positively contribute to the Bank’s conformance with the Standards of Transparency and Disclosure, as required by Regulations.
  5. To enhance the Participants’ Learning Experience through originally designed Learning Assessments.
    • Quiz (via a common Online platform); OR  Group Activity (Case-Work).  Trainees’ submission online (via BAIPHIL’s Google Classroom link by BAIPHIL’s Training Officer);
    • Plenary Presentation of Answers, that could benefit from the Speaker’s inputs/ advice during the plenary session.
