OVERVIEW:
This is an international standard that provides guidelines on sustainable procurement, where such standard can be used by an organization that intends to improve its social, economic, and environmental sustainability thru its procurement and supply chain.
The main guidelines include key sustainability considerations, integrating sustainability into the organization’s procurement policy and strategy, managing risks and opportunities, planning and integrating sustainability into the procurement processes, and measuring and improving the sustainable procurement performance.
Considering the growing awareness with regard to sustainable business practices, nationally and internationally, whether required by laws and regulations, promoted by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, or even by the changing societal expectations – there is a myriad of reasons in today’s world that drive organizations to be more sustainable from their products and services, all the way to their suppliers, the materials they procure and ensure that the sustainable value chain is created to ensure that organizations are vertically integrated in their objectives to be accountable to their commitment to sustainable development.
COURSE RATIONALE:
• Understand Sustainable procurement management system and its processes based on ISO 20400:2017
• The relationship between ISO 20400:2017 and other standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Understand the auditor’s role in planning, leading, and following up on a Sustainable procurement audit in accordance with ISO 19011
• Interpret the requirements of ISO 20400:2017 in the context of an SP audit.
• Plan first and second party audit, draft reports, and follow up on an audit.
• Act with due professional care during an audit.
TRAINING OBJECTIVE:
• Explain why it’s important to have sustainable procurement.
• Become familiar with the key requirements/guidance of ISO 20400:2017
• Increase their knowledge of sustainable procurement practices.
• Understanding the drivers and objectives of a green procurement strategy & program

The Program is delivered using a combination of instructor-led lectures, case study and exercises on practical implementation of the concepts discussed within the training.
